Description:

Stop Gambling Now Lecture Vol 1. provides an overview of gambling related mental health problems, it explains how problem gambling is different from normal gambling and reviews in detail the symptoms of compulsive gambling. This overview will help the listener to better understand the nature of the problem that they, or a family member is facing. It is designed to help break through the patterns of denial that are so common in people who have addictions so that the listener might be better able to accept the nature of their problem rather than continue to be stuck in a phase of not believing that gambling can become a serious compulsive behavior.

please note that as in may 2013 DSM IV is being replaced with DSM V there are several changes that impact the information on this CD, these are discussed further on the assessment page:

1. Only 4 and not 5 criteria are required for a diagnosis.

2. There are now only 9 symtoms, symptom number 8 "have you commited illegal acts to fund your gambling" is no longer included.

3. The entire disorder has been removed from the impulse control disorders classification and is now a behavioral addiction.
